Foundation for Education posted a condolence
Wednesday, January 10, 2018
Hello,
This is Wes MacVicar, ED for the Foundation for Education Perth Huron.
We appreciated Paul and his final act of support for the work that we do.
Please also see the following sentiments found on our online giving page whereby folks made a donation in memory of Paul.
"Paul Carroll was a wonderful educator who dedicated his life to the well being of children. It was a privilege and a honour to have known him. His good works will live on for many years as will the influence that he had on those that he came in contact. I got to know Paul through our work on the Supervisory Officer Program. He was fun to work with and many of his "prophesies" about education have proven to be correct. Jim Hardy, Superintendent of Business, retired, London DCSB" - James Hardy
"In memory of Paul Carroll and in honour of all his good works in the field of education, we give this gift so that the learning experiences of children in the Avon Maitland School District may be enriched" - John & Nancy Patterson
Our condolences to you all,
Wes MacVicar on behalf of the Foundation's Board of Directors

Our warmest thoughts are with you during your time of sadness. Paul was an amazing individual who I know would have easily worn out the Energizer Bunny in no time. No task was too daunting for him. His contribution to all of Huron County is massive and his legacy will remain for a long, long time. We are sorry to not be able to visit personally. Hopefully we can connect in the new year. We offer our sincere sympathy and condolences at the loss of Paul. He was so kind to my parents during their later years. He drew stories out of my Dad concerning life on the Great Lakes that we, as children, never knew and Paul recorded them in his books. He was a gifted writer and historian, as well as a teacher, husband, and father. The family has lost a treasure. We will pray for him and for all of those grieving his loss.
In deepest sympathy,
Dawn Munday and Paul Carson

Dear Mary, Karsten & Kalen and all the Carroll family,
We are so sorry that you are going through this difficult time. Paul will be missed by many whom he has touched in many ways. His was a great role model to me as a lifeguard on the beach, to my brother as a teacher and to our daughters. Paul was a visionary on town council when Dad was mayor. Choosing us to be godparents to Karsten kept us connected which continued through Paul and George's MEd grad the same day and through the weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, trips and other family events that we shared.
There are so many wonderful memories that we hope they help to comfort you and fill the void that his loss creates in your lives.
Much love and deepest sympathies,
Kathy(Mills) & George Zador

Dear Mary and family;
Please accept my deepest condolence at your loss of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Paul was a great leader, one I was privileged to have worked with. I first met Paul when he was a candidate for the NDP party when we lived in the village of Centralia. I had no idea who he was since I was not working in Huron County at the time. But I was impressed with his views, his attitude and his honesty at that time. I never charged my opinion as I got to know Paul when I worked for the Huron County and Avon Maitland Boards of Education. He was also the person who encouraged me to continue to pursue the vice principal and principal roles. I worked directly with him when I was the head person with the summer program for challenging learning needs classrooms. Although we did not always agree, we had interesting debates and he was good to point out the good and not so good sides of what we were thinking of doing. I was so blessed to have Paul as a mentor and confidante as I was beginning my career as a vice principal and a principal. I valued his opinions and had high respect for him. It was a pleasure to have known him. Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. God Bless.

Paul was an inspiring educator, a civic change-maker, and a wonderful human being. Paul was one of my earliest influences, as my grade school teacher for two years, that imagination and creativity are so important, and that individuals can make a difference in this world. And I believe that he set the foundations for the outlook on life that I have today, for which I am truly grateful.
At the Goderich Year 2000 celebrations, I made a point of tracking him down and letting him know that. I'm so glad I did.
Husband, father, teacher, public servant, and so much more....a life well lived, he made a positive difference in the lives of many, and in that his legacy lives on.
