Obituary of Calvin Colin Caldwell
CALDWELL, Calvin Colin
Cal, of Seaforth, Ontario, passed away suddenly on December 20th in his 92nd year. Greatly missed by his loving and loved wife Barbara (nee Cox) after 57 years of marriage, his loving daughter, Kathy (Paul Russell) and his three terrific grandchildren, Brennan, Kristen and Eric. He was a wonderful man. His thirst for life defined him – landing in Shanghai with the Merchant Marine at the young age of 20 just after World War II. Many other travel adventures followed, and he finally returned to school in his mid twenties, finishing his high school education and getting a B. Ed. He had an incredible zest for knowledge and read voraciously. He was passionate about English literature and taught it for many years to a multitude of high school students. He inspired those around him to seize life, love it, and not waste a moment as he instinctively knew that it was transient yet so precious. To the end, he often said, “it’s a rich life”. That vision was his gift to those who knew and loved him. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Huronview in Clinton. Special thanks to Sheri and Marvin Taylor. At his request there will be no funeral. Donations in his memory can be made to Toronto Cat Rescue through Falconer Funeral Homes in Clinton, Ontario, http://falconerfuneralhomes.com/, or at https://torontocatrescue.ca.
