Edmund Carley

Obituary of Edmund Clare Martin Carley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edmund (Ed) Carley at AMGH on Friday, April 6, at the age of 66. Always and forever “my love”, will never be forgotten by Joanne Kennedy.  Also cherished as “our Ed” by Rick, Stacy, Jayden, Caleb and Ashton Kennedy and by Jamie, Alyson, Damon, Sena and Rowyn Brown . Ed will be missed by his friends back home, Ed and Marie, Ken, and Ed’s cousins, (you know who you are), as well as aunt Charlotte and uncle Alan.

Pre-deceased by parents William and Joan Carley of Merrickville.  Ed is now resting in God’s loving arms and looking forward to following Him, riding white horses, dressed in the finest of linens for the army of Heaven. Revelations 19:14

A very special thank you for all of the love and care for Ed, given by Rhonda and Jim Elligson, Linda Witworth and the many great staff at the Maitland Manor, Goderich hospital emergency department ,second floor staff, dialysis and Huron hospice.

Ed enjoyed spending time with the people he loved.  The most precious being the daily rides to the beach and touring the country roads with his love.  Ed never passed up an opportunity to sit around the campfire roasting hot dogs or taking the grandkids fishing. He loved JP and Lise Gagnon’s cottage and spent many happy hours there relaxing or repairing something.  He was always ready and eager to help others and his handiness at repairing things was a blessing to many throughout his life. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed many hours fishing and hunting.

Ed loved his electric wheelchair as it gave him the mobility and freedom he needed to feel in control of his own life. One of Ed’s habits was to set out from the nursing home at 5 a.m. to go to MacDonalds for breakfast with the boys.

He lived the life of a Christian, accepting his life as it was without complaint, in spite of the hardships he endured (except, perhaps, once or twice about the food at the Manor).
Ed will always be remembered for his quirky sense of humour and how he loved to get a rise out of those closest to him just for a good belly laugh.

Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to attend a service honouring Ed’s life at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly on Wednesday, April 11 at 3 p.m.

Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
