Obituary of Irene Okahashi
OKAHASHI: IRENE
Peacefully at her home in Goderich, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 Irene Okahashi (nee Uchida) in her 87th year. Irene was a resident of the Clinton, Bayfield, and Goderich areas for many years. Irene was predeceased by her parents Mitsugu & Ayako Uchida and by her daughter Patricia Okahashi. Survived by her sister Joyce Uchida, a sister in law Nancy Uchida and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by a brother Albert and sister Lillian. Irene was a successful business person owning and operating a laundry business in Clinton. She was employed by Community Living Central Huron for many years and was an avid community volunteer. She proudly worked with Huron County Crime Stoppers, The Van Egmond Foundation, Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Goderich Branch #109 Ladies Auxiliary, The Betty Cardno Centre, Camp Menesetung, was a Girl Guide leader, and was a member of the country singles. Irene was an avid crafter, supporting all the local craft events and spent time golfing, curling, and playing shuffleboard. Irene will be missed by many friends and extended family in Alberta and British Columbia. At Irene's request cremation has taken place. Her remains will be inurned with her daughter Patricia in Calgary. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #109, 56 Kingston Street Goderich.
