To the Jewson family,
I wish to offer my sincerest condolences on your loss.
Bernice and I became very close friends during her time at Huronview. She taught me how to play backgammon which I looked forward to playing with her daily, worked on many puzzles together, and always had wonderful and deep conversations.
I will miss her insightful perspectives on travel and life, her mischievous nature, and my backgammon partner.
She will be sorely missed and never forgotten, for she had an impact on me far greater than words can describe, and I treasured our short time together immensely.
Sincerely,
Connor Adams

What a delightful lady. Always ready with a smile that meant there was a quick reply or a humorous remark. We knew Bernice best through CUC. She was always eager and ready to help in any way she could. What a clever and remarkable lady.

Our sincere sympathy in the loss of a remarkable lady. It was always such a pleasure to meet up with her anywhere and her memory so exact. We have know the Jewson family for over fifty years - their sons, Fred, Dick and Tim all delivered of LFP when youngsters. Alan and Bernice were strong pillars over the years at Clinton United and they will always be remembered.
Respectfully, Ken and Marg Caldwell

Dear Fred, Dick and Tim,
My father Howard and Graham Bowker's mother Florence were first cousins to your grandfather Fred. As children, we had many happy visits, with my parents to Fred and Edna just outside of North Gower. They were very patient and kind to us- just the traits
which were so apparent in Bernice when I met her again as an adult. This was last at a family reunion hosted about 15 years ago by Graham and Carol Bowker, when i met Dick.. I envy Graham for keeping close to this side of our family in Haliburton and regret not coming to know Bernice better.- Such a lovely lady and valued relative.
Please accept my sympathy at your loss as sons, with earnest hopes that we might find a way to get together in future.
Respectfully,
Roger Graham

Our sincere condolences to Bernice’s family members on her passing. She had a quick wit and a brilliant mind, which always made for an enjoyable chat with her. She was a great neighbour to my mother, Madelon Yeats, when they both resided in Heartland Apartments. She will be missed by so many in the Clinton community.

The Jewson Family: You have been so blessed to have such an amazing Mother! She was a genuine lady, who we were so fortunate to know whether in our church family, socially or at school! Years ago I helped her with CGIT when your family first came to Clinton. She was always so active and willing to be involved at church functions. She has really had a wonderful life! Her wonderful memories will live on amongst everyone, especially within your great family! My sincere sympathy. Clayton and Jane Groves.

So many good & happy memories of your mom! My parents Gord & Colleen Phillips treasured her friendship (and your dad’s as well). Parties, dances, playing cards, adventures with the ladies, trips to Drag Lake - great times. As kids we looked forward to what we called “Science Department pie crust”. Mom never mastered the art of making crust, Bernice spent many hours sipping wine and stocking our freezer with her special recipe. Thinking of you, hold on to the love & the laughter and she will remain in your hearts forever.

Fred, Dick and Tim - Our sincere condolences at this very sad time. We came to Clinton same time as your mom and dad, so have known them for many years. We had a connection through CHSS, which resulted in a few parties. Also through the church and other activities. I'm sure she will be looking for someone to play bridge with, which she thoroughly enjoyed playing. Your mom will be missed by a lot of people. Treasure the memories!!

Fred, Dick, Tim and families, you are all in my thoughts!
I first met Al and Bernice at CHSS. They both taught me Science.
Your parents were friends of my parents ring the years we lived in Clinton.
Bernice continued to be a good friend to my dad when they were living in Huronview.
I stayed in touch with Bernice over the years on FB, with letters, outings and visits.
During the past few years, she may have slowed down physically but mentally, Bernice was still so clever! She was witty, and had a great sense of humour. I will certainly miss her smile!
I do hope that your wonderful life-long memories will help you through the days ahead. Take good care. Joanne Cochrane

Fred, Dick, Tim and families, you are in my thoughts! I have such fond memories of our parents’ friendship from their trips together to their Friday night bridge sessions taking turns at each other’s home. Bernice continued to be such an incredibly supportive friend to both my parents when they were at Huronview. Over the years, she may have slowed down physically but mentally, her mind was so sharp! I will miss her.

Bernice, the beautiful daughter of my “Uncle” Fred. As children, my brothers, Roger and Gerald, and I looked so forward to going to Uncle Fred’s farm where We would head for the barn and jump into piles of hay. Bernice, who looked so much like her father remembered doing that to. We met up with Bernice a few times at Graham and Carol Bowker’s home in Clinton and their summer home in Halliburton. Very lovely memories of Bernice. Connie Marsh (Graham)

So many wonderful memories ,... where to begin..We were so blessed to have many exciting adventures with Bernice. I used to love to say I was "driving the daisies or taking the Daisies"...instead of "driving miss Daisy" . You can learn a lot from the elderly and Bernice was no exception. Bernice came in to our grade 13 class - taught by her husband - to teach us how to figure out our blood type. (she had worked at the lab at the hospital before teaching) I very proudly went to her with m results and she said " do it again - you can't possibly be that! " Didn't pay to have her know my parents and their blood type.
If you had told me in Grade 9 science class that I would be travelling with my teacher I would have thought you had two heads! LOL. But what wonderful travels they were, ... Bermuda, Hawaii, Ireland, California coast and San Diego Zoo ,Caribbean a few times, cruising the Mississippi and shopping sprees to the states were some of the highlights of our journeys. Many trips to Grand Bend theatre or Stratford theatre were also fun adventures and MJ, as I called her, enjoyed everything and anything. When my mom passed we would still include Bernice on our outings, and even went state side shopping with her in 2018! she was a trooper. Lots of card games and many New years Eves were also fun. She was like a second Mom - but I don't think she worried about us as much. LOL
But the bottom line is, I will miss you soooo much. I will treasure the memories we made and keep you in my heart. My heart felt sympathy to the family - I imagine Heavenly dancing and card games have started! Heavens gain.

So many wonderful memories of Bernice. The Symons family had the pleasure of spending many great vacations with Bernice over the years and she was very near and dear to our family. Visits to her beloved cottage in Haliburton, many New Years Eves spent together, birthday celebrations, many Euchre games and other card games, shopping trips in the US, Saturday afternoon drives, dining out and many other times spent with Bernice. All so much fun and so fondly remembered.
I will miss her with all my heart but will always have so many wonderful memories.
She was a real gem and the Symons family will miss her terribly.
I have added a few photos of our times together.
To Fred, Dick, Tim and your families, my deepest condolences on the loss of your mom/grandma/great grandma. You were blessed with one of the best.
Thinking of you all,
Lorrie Symons

Over the years I always looked forward to our week spent at Bernice’s cottage in the summer. I then enjoyed doing the fall supper circuit at all the local churches with Bernice. What great meals we shared and what lovely memories we created. I met so many members of her wonderful family that I want to send my condolences to all of you. Bernice will be missed but has left us with loads of fun and memorable events. Thinking of all of you as you celebrate Bernice’s life.
