My sincere condolences to all the Gibson family. During my time with OMAFRA, I have many fond memories of the conversations , weed calls, and visits with Joe. He always had an infectious smile, a story, a great sense of humour, humility, and passion for agriculture, and the environment. Joe introduced me to hogweed and I believe he was one of the first to discover its invasive nature, and serious threat it posed. Joe had very strong principles, and never shied away at County or other meetings being an advocate for agriculture or forestry. The world could use many more Joe’s. Cherish the memories.

In my time with MNR I spent many hours talking with Joe about the tree bylaw, as well as other forestry and environmental topics. I appreciated his candid viewpoints and sense of humour. It was obvious Joe had a genuine interest in our forests and natural areas and he certainly made a positive impact on them through his various roles over the years. Sincere condolences to the Gibson family.
