Obituary of Arno Erich Roske
ARNO ROSKE December 27, 1930 - November 12, 2020
On a sunny autumn afternoon Arno died peacefully as he had lived. He was in his 90th year.
Bereft are his wife Madeleine, daughter Lisa, son-in-law, Dr. Robert Ciomyk and grandson, Michael Ciomyk. Also missed by his sister-in-law Barbara Chalifoux and his niece Noelle Chalifoux. Arno was predeceased by his parents, Else and Erich Roske of Berlin, Germany.
Arno loved his work as a steamfitter, especially the “big pipes” at the Bruce site but when work was over his home was his castle. Arno enjoyed varied interests including listening to music, good food and wine, his garden and relaxing with his family.
Some years after retirement Arno developed dementia which was a long slow slide. At one point Arno began attending the Goderich Adult Day Program and there found not just a host of new friends but a new way of being. His innate joy in life was shared with all who met him including the wonderful caring staff at Maitland Manor.
Loved by those who knew him, we grieve and miss this kind and gentle man.
A graveside memorial service for family and friends will take place at Maitland Cemetery, Goderich on Saturday, November 21st at 11 a.m. Those wishing to attend are required to RSVP (with the name and phone number of each guest attending) online at Arno's memorial page on the funeral home website or by contacting the funeral home at 519-524-1221 prior to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 20th. All attendees will be required to register their attendance, wear face masks and maintain social distancing protocols according to local health department and BAO directives.
For those who wish, a memorial donation to the Goderich Adult Day Program would be most useful and greatly appreciated.
