Obituary of Cecil Fields
Cecil Fields
November 28, 1955 ~ December 5, 2020 (age 65)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil (Cec) Fields of Clinton, Ontario at age 65. Cec passed peacefully on December 5th, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pat Fields, and their two daughters, Amy (Brett) Jewitt and Sherri (Scott) McNaughton. Proud Papa of four grandchildren Leah, Dexter, Bennett and Maelle. Dear brother of Floyd (Alison), Brian (Sandra), Mervyn (Sue), Marlene (David) Cunnington and Leroy. Beloved brother-in-law to Judy Ruthven, Shirley Denomme, MaryLou and John McAdam, Sue Denomme and Linda Denomme. Missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lauretta (Reichert) Fields; parents-in-law, Joe and Dorene Denomme; brothers-in-law, Ron Ruthven, Jerry Denomme, Dave Denomme; and sisters-in-law, Wendy Denomme and Elaine Denomme. Born and raised near Kippen, Cec found his calling at a young age in the field of carpentry and took great pride in his craft. He was often seen tinkering in his workshop or tending to his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and grew to appreciate football and hockey with the addition of his sons-in-law. Always up for a game of cards with family and friends, guests in the Fields’ home were greeted with their drink of choice, as Cec was “the eternal bartender”. Memories of his unforgettable smile, laughter and hugs will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. Cec’s life was quickly changed with his diagnosis of pilocytic astrocytoma brain tumour in October. He faced his diagnosis with acceptance, courage, and his adoring wife and daughters by his side. A special thank you to the staff at Stratford General Hospital, Dr. Salsbury and his team at Clinton Public Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre, and especially Huron Hospice. Gratitude to dear friends who provided support to our family during this time. Much gratitude also goes to all those who have kept, and continue to keep, our family in their hearts as we grieve this loss of our dear husband, father and papa. A celebration of Cec’s life will be announced at a later date due to current circumstances. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the Huron Hospice or Clinton Public Hospital in Cec’s memory.
