So sad to hear John has left this world.
John was a regular at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar where I worked in Goderich for
7 years .He had a Red Pontiac Sunfire GT. He was looking for another for parts .My daughter was selling hers so they made a deal.He was fair. Whenever she saw him after that she'd say "hows my car" .One day he surprised her and said looks like its gonna be going for a while
Yet .He made one good one of the 2.She was so happy. He was a great guy .Always willing to chat for a bit. Tell you what he was working on. Always smiling and pleasant. Till we meet again.

Mel and Family, I'm sorry to hear of John's leaving you all, but he truly is in a much better place, we know. I'm so thankful I had a very special visit and prayer time with John not too long ago, before I returned to China. Although weak in body, he was strong in spirit I'm grateful for the many great meals and good fellowship at your lovely country home over this past couple years. John always made me feel so welcome and genuinely interested in our conversations. 'A gentle kind loving man is what I will remember of John. I will be praying for you all as you grieve the loss of your significant other - Mel, and the children and grandchildren that will surely miss his presence in their lives. Wish I could be there to give you a big HUG, but know I'm thinking of you and praying for you. Love, Cheryl Welch

My condolences to you all! My memories are many. I babysat Jess, Ally, and Lolo often and John had a sparkle in his eyes for each of them. I always loved seeing the love he had for his wife and kids and dreamed i would have that some day.l did say I was gonna have ten kids after watching these three cuties who were angels in my eyes but apparently that changed after 2. He did have 3 amazing kids.
Me and my brothers always enjoyed going for a swim or skate on the pond and when we did John was always in the garage working on his cars. It always seemed like a passion in our eyes. We loved going up and seeing him and the cars too. He was so nice and let us sit in them too. He certainly was easy to talk too and I will always have great memories of an amazing and wonderful soul!
Love, Dianne Verburg(Dykman)

When I used to clean house , when the girls were quite young. I ended up in the basement where John had a Chevy Vega where he had taken out the aluminum block engine and had souped it up with a bigger engine. I just laughed and asked him if it flies?

Melodie and Family,
I was not aware of John’s situation until I read of his passing. My heart feels very heavy for you. John was always someone I enjoyed talking to. He was funny, caring, and he loved his family. He was always willing to talk to anyone! He had so many stories to tell! I remember staying at John and Melodies house a few times as a child. I always admired the relationship that they had with each other. You could see the love and devotion they had for each other in their eyes. I will really miss seeing that welcoming smile and hearing all of John’s funny jokes every now and then when we meet. My heart hurts so much for you Melodie. I hope that you are able to remember that John is always with you no matter what and that John’s life meant so much to so many people.
I was not close to John but I thought highly of him and enjoyed our conversations. It hurts me to hear of his passing but I know he is looking down on his family smiling. What a wonderful family he had. He was truly blessed on earth.
Rest In Peace, John. We will miss you.
We are thinking of you, Melodie. ❤️
