DOUCETTE: CALE LEONARD
Cale L. Doucette of Clinton passed away peacefully, with his daughter at his side, at Clinton Public Hospital, on Wednesday February 24, 2021; he was in his 96th year. Beloved husband for 65 years of the late Verna (Freeman) Doucette (March 2015). Dearly loved father of Marian Doucette of Clinton. Cale is also missed by sister-in-law Gail Doucette (Winnipeg) and many nieces, nephews and their children. Predeceased by his parents Harry & Alice (Watson) Doucette, brothers Harold (Florence), Arnold, and Murray (Ileen) Doucette. Cale was born in Windhorst Saskatchewan, where he was raised on the prairies and then lived in Seattle, Washington. Cale’s father, being one of Canada’s first licenced pilots, and his mother, a suffragette and social activist who worked with Tommy Douglas, fostered his love of adventure, big skies and travel. As one of “Alice’s Angels” he was always up for the challenge, either following the lead of his older brother or participating in the antics of the younger twins. Cale was a building contractor, leaving a legacy of numerous schools, banks, commercial and residential buildings in Huron, Perth, and Bruce Counties. Cale also enjoyed being a craftsman, horseman, fisherman, friend, and traveller. His love for adventure continued into his 90’s when he remained keen to try glamping, hike glaciers, and drive a team of horses in Alberta. The family wish to express the deepest gratitude to Drs. Candi Flynn & Patricia Uniac and the palliative care nurses and support staff at Clinton Public Hospital, as well as Drs. Michele Flowers and Maarten Bokhout, nurse Jessica Bentley and his treasured PSW’s Amy, Karen, and Robert for helping to fulfill his wish to remain at home for as long as possible. Cremation has taken place. Private Family arrangements are entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes – Clinton. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation, Clinton United Church, or Charity of One’s Choice would be appreciated.
