Obituary of Ralph Feltz
Ralph Norman Feltz, 81 of Clinton, passed away peacefully at Huronview Home for the Aged on March 3, 2021.
Loving husband of Joyce, father to Linda (Ben Wiersma) and Laura. Beloved Poppa to Kathryn Feltz (Mike and Emily Karas) and Irene Johnson (James Wakelim) .
Brother to Doreen Gloor, Vera Fischer (Dalton), Norma Boyd and Ray (Marlene) and brother-in-law to Alice Feltz, Audrey Feltz, Willow Dow, Joan Dow, Brenda Mason (Barry) and Jean Dow (Gord). Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Wilfred and Martha Feltz, brothers Lloyd and Harold, brothers-in-law Lloyd Gloor, Elwood Boyd, Floyd Dow and Bruce Dow.
Ralph was raised on a farm outside of Mitchell, ON. He worked for Dalton Fischer Transport driving from Mitchell to Edmonton before moving to Clinton. In his later years, Ralph shared many stories about his trips and the people he saw along the way.
For 40 years, Ralph worked at Fleming Feed Mill in Clinton. After several years driving a feed truck into Michigan to pick up soybean meal and witnessing the CN Tower construction as he picked up loads in Toronto, Ralph transitioned to work in the elevator. He could sometimes be found checking on the elevator leg after climbing to the top of the silos where he was able to see Lake Huron on clear days.
He enjoyed road trips and could be found many evenings studying maps and atlases after supper. He had a keen sense of direction and exploring the backroads of the countryside.
Ralph was most proud of his family. He and Joyce celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last year and spent most of those years living in the White House, on the corner of the 15th concession, where they raised their family. Ralph was often found puttering at his workbench or outdoors. He enjoyed many summer evenings around the backyard fire pit, listening to classic country music while sipping on a splash of scotch.
Ralph was a man of few words, with an easy nature, who cared deeply and was always there to lend a hand to family and friends.
A service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held at the Falconer Funeral Homes – Clinton, on Saturday March 6, 2021 at 3 p.m. Although the service is private, Ralph’s family invite you to view the service via livestream by visiting Ralph’s obituary at www.falconerfuneralhomes.com
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Huron County or One Care Huron County would be appreciated
Our family is deeply grateful for the programs, services, support and tireless focus of the team at the Alzheimer’s Society of Huron County. You helped us make sense, provided a safe space to learn, grow and grieve through a long and difficult journey while Dad’s memory slowly slipped away.
Special thanks to the staff at Huronview, especially during this past year, for their wonderful care and compassion.
