Obituary of Lillian Jean Barnes

Barnes: Lillian Jean After a lengthy illness, Lillian Jean Barnes passed away at Huronview Long Term Care, Clinton Ontario on July 22, 2014 at the age of 84. Jean is predeceased by her sisters, Helen, Doris, and brother Jack. After 64 years of marriage Jean is survived by her loving husband Ray. They were married in London, Ontario on September 20, 1947. Jean is lovingly remembered by her children Cheryl McDonald (Clinton), and Dennis Barnes (Winnipeg). Also she had an extremely close bond with her niece Dianne Butler of Goderich. "Mother Bear" as Cheryl's late husband, Wayne nicknamed her, was born in Ailsa Craig, Ontario on July 3, 1930. Bell telephone was her first job as an operator. Jean loved fashion and cosmetics and worked in different drug stores in that field. She looked gorgeous all the time! Ray and Jean traveled in many different forms of Rv's across Canada and the U.S. They both were happiest when they were "On The Road"! No grass grew under their feet. Dancing, theatre productions, singing and sewing were her passions as well as taking care of her family and she did them all with vigor. She loved life and life loved her right back! After cremation Jean will be interred at First Nairn Cemetery which has a public school right across from it. Children were a highlight in her life. She loved them all. Now she can keep an eye on them for eternity. On behalf of the family we are so thankful to the caring, loving staff at Huronview in Clinton. "Mother Bear" was treated as family with kindness, love and respect by all. Thanks also to Dianne and Bob Butler whose support was unwavering. Jean is finally at peace now, no more pain and no more confusion. We will remember her with love and humour. She is now healthy and line dancing "up there" to the Achy Breaky Heart complete with cowboy boots! Love her, miss her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Huron County. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes - Bluewater Chapel 201 Suncoast Dr. E., Goderich, Ontario.
