Dear Bee and Barb. I had visited Steve two weeks ago at the house when he was building teepees in the front room. We had a catch-up time, which was wonderful, and a hug on departing. We spent a lot of time together over the years of O.P.P. shooting in the pit and getting plants from the greenhouse. We sort of faded when I retired in '96' and had an occasional beer at the game and fish. It is good that he had so much time from the first bout......He was a great guy, and very professional at his job. He will be missed.....I have been unable to attend the visitation as my wife is sick with cancer as well and someone needs to be with her most of the time. I will try to get to the Legion...Hugs to you both...Love from Bill and Carol Wilson

Joe and I wish to extend our sincere condolences on the passing of Steve such a gentle man we have observed him many time with seniors and veterans so respectful of their age and service. My sister(Margaret Caldwell) and I observed this first hand as Steve spent some time with our father Karl Skov.
He will be sadly missed but always remember the good times and that he is now in Heaven and at peace.

There are many ways to describe Steve as you will see and hear over the
coming days, as all of us that were lucky to know him, knew him to be a good Friend and a good Man. Our sincere sympathy goes to his Family; his fellow
Fire Fighters; and all his Friends of which to all of us he shared a part of his life
with, including "much" laughter.
Steve; there are no fires to respond to in Heaven, so take your rifle, your bow, and your fishing pole......you've done your job enough down here !!
Sincerely;
Andy & Linda Smart.

We keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you face the future without a son, partner, brother, father and grandpa. Sharing your special memories of Steve will help you get through this difficult time. Hugs to all!

Dear Bee and Family,
Steve was a tremendously patient, kind and knowledgeable friend; few people in my life ever taught me a fraction of what Steve did. He would always take whatever time was necessary, and always with a genuine and infectious passion, to share his experiences with me. He was warm and sincere, and time spent with him always left me with a renewed joy for life. Please accept my deepest sympathy, and I pray he rest in peace.

I worked with Steve for 6 short years with the Community Emergency Management Coordinators Committee with the County of Huron and instantly liked him. He just had one of those personalities that you trusted, liked and wanted to be around. My family was also very fortunate that my boy Sam Barlow was mentored by him as well, through the GDCI School Co-Op Program because he wanted to be a Fire Fighter. Steve went beyond the call of duty teaching him "in station" duties and let him participate in their training sessions. He taught him about Personal Protective Equipment, Breathing Apparatus, Hoses and Streams, Ladders, Ropes and Knots and Fire Fighter Survival. Steve got my boy loving the Fire Fighter Field and he is still pursueing that career. I want to say Thank You Steve, and to his family so sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed. I know me and my boy will never forget him.

Dear Bee, Barb and all extended family - Clinton has lost a good man. Steve
was instrumental in getting a booklet of the invasion of Denmark where
references were made to our father Karl Skov - they had many discussions
until the book had been translated to English, My sister Gerda (Abbott) and I
(the Skov Sisters) felt there was a great respect between the two of them as
they visited. We always had a strong admiration of Steve due this friendship as
we have for Bee whom we all admire and respect.

So sorry to learn of Steve's passing. So many great memories of my times spent at the Cooke household. I especially remember one Christmas when I joined your family for dinner and Steve being the outdoors sportsman decided to pass around a box of chocolates. Little did I know they were chocolate covered insects. So many good memories of him. He will be missed dearly by all whose lives he touched. Keeping all of you near and dear in my heart and praying for comfort for each and every one of you as you pass through this journey.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to all of you at this time. For those of us who were left behind on Steve's last journey it is hard to realise that he will not be back, but memories will help in this difficult time.
My memories of Steve are many....building the "Chimbusi" (outhouse) and the smoker at the cottage and his recipe for Biltong which I still use. His jokes, his practical jokes and the sometimes suspect "dishes" he came up with!!!
I know his physical presence will be sorely missed by you, by us all, but his spirit, sense of mischief, his laugh, his Joie de Vivre, but most of all, his "Cookieness", will be with all of us in his memory.
My love to you all
Carole
