Obituary of Douglas Raymond Harris

HARRIS At Alexandra Marine & General Hospital, Goderich on Friday July 3, 2015 Douglas Raymond Harris of Meneset, passed away peacefully in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Uretta "Rieta" (Edwards) Harris. Loving father of Jane & George Hoy of Dungannon, Patricia & Rob Seeley of Ferney B.C. and Glen & Valerie Harris of Spencerville. Cherished by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Survived by his sister Donna Burden of Petrolia and sister-in-law Ruth Harris of Sarnia. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by his parents Hubert & Myrtle Harris and his brothers Carmen, Lloyd, Fred and Gord. Doug was born in Sarnia and was a dairy farmer until he retired to Dungannon, where he was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Moore Line Church in Sarnia, then a member of the Dungannon United Church. He was a man of many passions, the highlight of which was playing his fiddle. Doug was a kind and gentle man. He will be missed by all. Friends are invited to a visitation at the Falconer Funeral Homes, Bluewater Chapel, 201 Suncoast Dr. East Goderich on Wednesday July 8th from 7-9 p.m. where a celebration of life service will be held on Thursday July 9th, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment, Dungannon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Doug may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
