Our deepest sympathiy's to the family. Doug was an amazing man. I personally always enjoyed phone conversations with him.
"Is faye there?"
Doug, "who?"
Me, "Faye."
Doug, "who's this?"
Me, "it's debbie'
Doug, "Debbie who?"
Me, "Debbie scherle."
Doug, "just a minute. Then he'd yell, "Faye, Shirley's on the phone."
Always the comic. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Ken, Faye, Karen and Paul,
We were just talking about Doug on Boxing Day morning, and decided we should pay him a visit, but to our dismay, when we arrived at Huronview, were told of Doug's passing. So many great memories from over the years.
The two things we had in common were hockey and farming....oh..by the way, there was a third thing, we enjoyed a good time together! Saturday night card games were a big part of that, along with many rides in Doug and Betty's white convertible. If only that car could talk, but then again, maybe it's a good thing that it can't. A trip to New York City ranks high in there too. Both Doug and Betty will forever be remembered for their hard work ethics, their love for family and friends, and their hearts of gold. Fond memories that will never be forgotten. May you Rest in Peace.
Love Dennis and Kathy

So very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. We became great friends during Betty's time at the manor. I will miss his phone calls asking me to remember a name of someone he would describe and i would figure out who he meant and would get a big "Thank-you Rose I knew you would know who I meant" (smiling). My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. One tear, one breathe, one step at a time.
