I can remember as a young girl fascinated by Rev. Youmatoff. We would attend the annual service at Stew's pond and I would away's watch in aww as he climbed the boat and preached from there his sermon. When I was younger I couldn't see him but when I was older the sight of him in his robes floating on the water made be feel like I was on the shores of Galilee. It is forever a part of my childhood memories.
As an adult when I think of Rev. George I think of a big hug. (something I would avoid as a kid , especialy when my friends were around.) I grew to treasure those hugs because everytime I saw him he seemed weeker and I knew eventualy there would be an end. I know they were special because Sarah, who avoids them from anyone else would be right with me as I was heading his way for my hug. They, and him are gone as well as the service on the water, and it is a loss that I am working hard to deal with. I felt that maybe I can start that healing by sharing my special memories with you. Rest in peace Rev. George, give Mom a hug for me.
