Obituary of Joan Watson
Watson, Barbara 'Joan' Predeceased by husband Edward, Joan Watson (nee Whitfield) passed away peacefully with her children by her side at Stratford General Hospital in her 86th year on September 29, 2017. Joan is lovingly survived by five children John (Kim) of Blyth, Kim (Paul Orrick) of London, Jayne Ritchie (Mel) of Lucknow, Jeff of Mississauga and Lisa of Toronto, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Rose Marie Campbell (Harold) and brother Karl Whitfield (Sandra), her in-laws Wilma Gummow and Jack Watson (Jean) and many nieces and nephews. Joan loved nothing more than spending time with her family, travelling (she and Edward with their friends and later, on her own with her children) and enjoying all the holidays hosting her family in their home in Blyth. Joan was an active member of her community in Blyth all her life through her church (Trinity Anglican), her bridge club, and in earlier years, all the activities her children were involved with. She loved her gardens and especially her roses. She was a teacher and later worked with her husband Edward in the family business, Watson's Livestock. The family is thankful to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Clinton Public Hospital and Stratford General Hospital for their care and compassion. Friends and family will be received at Trinity Anglican Church (166 Dinsley Street West, Blyth) for visitation on Wednesday, October 4th from 7-9 pm and from 11:00 am Thursday, October 5th prior to the funeral service at 1:00 pm. The service will take place at Trinity Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Anglican Church Blyth or to the Diabetes Foundation.
