Elizabeth (Betty) Alice Racz (Nee Penlington) at age 90 departed into peace. Predeceased by husband(s) Joseph Racz and David Krofchak and daughter Sandra Kim Smillie.
Survived by daughters Jacqueline Burgon, Linda Grasse and son Edward Krofchak. Grandchildren Emily Smillie, Chloe and Edward (Ted) Grasse, Christopher and Hillary Krofchak and Daniel Milo Burgon.
Elizabeth will be greatly missed by all that knew her, as a warm generous person with a wonderful sense of humour. Born 14 October 1929, in Antwerp Belgium to Edward and Louise Penlington. Moving to London in 1940 then Liverpool during WW2. After her marriage to David Krofchak in 1953, she moved with him to Malaya for 2 1/2 years and then to Canada in 1957.
Living in Toronto, Cambridge, Guelph, and finally settling in Goderich for the last 30 yrs she travelled and lived a good life with friends and family. Elizabeth was a loving mother to her four children and six grandchildren. She had a beautiful voice and studied opera with Madame Lipinka in Toronto, focusing on Puccini and Gershwin. She was a talented dressmaker and passionate gardener. Elizabeth ran a clothing store in Galt called the Queen’s Closet and had a tailoring service for shops in Goderich and Bayfield.
In her later years she was gifted with the support of her kind neighbours at Meneset Park and a wonderful team, from Dr Stan Spacek, to the women of One Care and Home Assist to the special staff at Huron View Nursing home. A family could not ask for better care and understanding from all of these individuals and we would like to express our great appreciation and thanks for what they have done.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial is planned with internment in the spring.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Betty
