Stevenson: William A.
Willam A. Stevenson of Bayfield passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday April 10, 2020 at the age of 77.
Beloved husband of Pam (nee Swann) of 24 years. Loving father of Scott and Andrea, Lissa and Jason Berard, loving step-father of Jillian and Kevin Bender, Lesley and John Ward.
Cherished grandpa of Daniel and Luke Stevenson, Mathew & Chantel, Tyler, and Spencer Stevenson, Sadie and Shelby Berard, Alexis, Sydney and Kelsey Bender, Brooklyn and Brett Green. Great grandpa to Bodhi and Kai Stevenson. Brother of Barb Stewart of Courtney BC, Paul and Penny Stevenson of Clinton, Ruth and Albert Church of Port Rowan, brother-in-law to Rob and Starr Swann of Ottawa. Bill will be lovingly remembered by many nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by his son Steven and his parents, Gordon and Jean Stevenson.
Bill moved to Huron County with his young family in the early 60s. He was a former Teacher and Principal with the Huron County Board of Education. He also served as an O.P.P. Officer while farming outside of Belgrave. Bill was always an active member of every community he was associated with, from School Fairs, Choirs, Kinsmen and Lions clubs. Bill and Pam spent many years as volunteers for the Mennonite Central Committee. Those adventures included living and helping in New Mexico soup kitchens and habitat for humanity, minimum security women re-integration in society counselling and death row family counselling in Georgia and many years of supporting the native communities of Newfoundland and Labrador. The friendships they acquired along the way became life long friends. Sobriety and AA afforded Bill many years of peace and serenity and he supported many people along that same journey. Bill will be missed by all that knew him. He always spoke quietly and clearly and listened to others, his gentle wisdom will always be remembered fondly.
Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes at Clinton Cemetery. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Habitat for Humanity or Canadian Mental Health Association Huron-Perth, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Falconer Funeral Homes - Clinton. Messages of Condolence for the Stevenson Family are welcome at www.falconerfuneralhomes.com
