Aunt Rene, you left us with so many good memories...
As three young sisters growing up without a mother there were many difficult times but you, Uncle Ford and the boys were there for us. You were always there to comfort us when we were down. On our many visits you always made sure that we were well feed with one of your many delicious meals. You never fretted when there was a mess made in the living room instead you laughed along with us as we were having fun. When it was time for that long drive home to Cambridge with dad you always sent us off with a loving hug and a wave from the window only to greet us with that same affection when we returned for another visit.
Over the past several years Iâve enjoyed the visits with you in nursing home, sometimes surprising you with a bag of your favourite peppermints or a plant to brighten up your room. It was always so nice to take a walk down memory lane with you. Recalling all those good times we had always put a smile on our faces or made us laugh.
You may be gone but youâll always be in my heart....I love you Aunt Rene

So many memories - - like the day she had apple pies cooling and she hid them when Howard Poswalk drove in,
- the day we baked these incredibly difficult cinnamon buns,
- grandma's ironing and mending the outfits for the band every weekend they performed,
- catching grandma with a smoke hanging out of her mouth while she washed clothes with her wringer washer on the dirt floor in the dungeon down under the house,
- her love of every flower imaginable,
- washing dishes for zillions of people every gathering,
- african violets in every window possible,
- her little stashes of candies in every cubby hole,
- laughing with her and her grandchildren(Dylan and Abby)when she came upon a stash of candies she had long forgotten about,
- her cup of tea moments,
- her retelling stories that stretched a bit from the original version,
- how she would disappear in seconds inside a store and after moments of panic I would always find her in some obscure aisle completely content and oblivious to the panic she had instilled in everyone else,
- I remember feeding the pig slops from the pails of compost from the kitchen back at the barn,
- I learned to love the lime green sweaters she knit me because that was her favourite colour,
- I remember her always putting lipstick on for trips to town,
- I cherished sitting with her under the tree outside the house and the wonderful breeze that seemed to come through there,
-I remember her giving Uncle Tom proper hell for throwing garden snakes at me,
-I remember how she always smiled at strangers, as if she were lifelong friends with everyone,
- I loved how she used to call grandpa a "crazy old coot", or worse yet, if she said you looked "healthy" that meant you were pleasantly plump,
...
always in my heart,
Sherry Greene(Johnston) and family
