Sandra, Sara, Melissa, Sam and Family. I just found out about Roy's passing and am so sad. I always (still) tell people that Roy was one of the nicest, kindest, and caring human beings ever. Roy was selfless and would do anything for anyone despite not feeling well himself. He never complained about anyone or anything. Another beautiful trait about Roy was his love of animals and nature. He talked proudly about Sandra, his children and his grandchildren.
I can't imagine what all of you went through, but I'm sure it was extremely difficult. You can be proud of having such a wonderful role model in your lives.

I loved working with Roy back in the mid to late 80s...he always made my work fun. He had a great smile, and was so easy to like...I even got to drive his Camaro and motorcycle on occasions! I’m sorry for your loss, and his memory will always live inside of me. I’m so glad I was able to see him again at my sister’s funeral a few years ago. God bless you all. Steve

Dear Sandra and family, my deepest condolences. Although we have the great hope of reunion in heaven, the days of waiting have their hard times. We did not know Roy well but Sara’s presence with us during her school years showed she came from a loving home. Until you meet again, may you find comfort with friends and family, in good memories and, most of all, in the Lord Jesus, Who has welcomed Roy home with open arms.
Psalm 3:3-5
But You, oh Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the Lord, and He answered me from His holy hill.

I laid down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
Grace and Peace,
Tim and Pam

Sandra, we were so sorry to hear of Roy's passing. Our hearts go out to you and your family at this difficult time. We know that God will carry you through but I am sure it is still so hard. We will always remember Roy's smile and his laugh and his willingness to have Dan & Emily at your house when you agreed to look after them while we were on our short term missions trip. Sara & Josiah and family, Melissa & Michael and family & Sam we are so sorry about the passing of your Dad. Our sympathies to Garth and Ruth and the extended family as well. May you all feel God's comfort and peace at this time.

W.R.S.T .... At any point that you met Roy he would likely laugh and introduce himself as the WRST. The truth is he was simply the best. I met Roy for the first time in 1984, I was a high school kid starting my first job at the local gas station(Old Goderich Service). What he taught me about customer service and treating other people how you would like to be treated has lasted me a lifetime. Somewhere in the mentoring process though we became friends. We figured out that we shared a lot of the same interests and certainly the same sense of humor. The friendship led to a business partnership that I still consider the best time of my working life. Through all of that we were friends. We shared a boat and boat trips excursions and many lunches out. Roy would have the soup! Just mark it down ahead of time! Throughout the 36 years that he was my friend I was very honoured to get know Sandra ,Sam, Sara, and Mellssa and their families. They are friends too. Roy taught me to love so many things, books, like James Herriott, Movies ,he loved Stallone, Seagal and Eastwood. Boating, I never knew you could have that much fun just out floating around in a boat. All the while his sense of humor shone through. A turn of phrase, or pun was his specialty you had to be alert or you would miss a really good line! One of Roy's favourite lines (I'm not sure who to credit) was; " I'm going out to find myself, if I should return before I get back, hold me here" So we will, we will hold him in our hearts as the wonderful friend and family member that he was.

It will be impossible for me to share just one memory of this guy. So this may well be the first of many. My first memory of Roy was seeing him at a golf course on Vancouver Island. Our family had traveled West to visit my Auntie Vi, Uncle Ron, cousins Wayne and Paul. I was with my sister; my recollection is sitting in the car staring at this guy who was working at the golf course. We knew he was a friend of cousin Wayne. My sister was staring extra long (wink, wink) and then she turned to me and said, “I’m gonna marry that guy,” very matter of factly. The rest of the story is, she did! And our family has been all the richer for that union. I could not have asked for a more giving, genuine, loving, funny, kind, witty... did I mention funny? — brother-in-law! His distinctive laugh was utterly contagious and the “one-liners” never ending. He was truly the best W.R.S.T. brother-in-law. Love Jan
