Obituary of Don Albrecht

ALBRECHT: Donald Roy Passed away peacefully at his residence with his wife and family at his side on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 his 91st year. Don is survived by his loving wife Willa Albrecht (nee Hallman), his children, Lin (Doreen) Albrecht, Steve (Joan) Albrecht, Brenda (Ed) Stein, Joy (Alvin) Slaughter and Trevor (Tina) Albrecht as well as fifteen grandchildren and their spouses and 33 great grandchildren and one soon to be born. He has a surviving brother Dave (Marie) Albrecht. He is predeceased by his brother Ed (Carol) Albrecht, sister Nancy (Don) Hill and parents Menno and Irene (nee Kropf) and second wife Mary (nee Kaufman). Don was a faithful and devoted husband, father and fun loving grandfather. He loved a laugh and lived life to the fullest. He spent years working with his father's concrete business installing farm stables around the countryside. His career included a stint at farming, a number of years as a licensed mechanic and several years owning his own auto repair business. He entered ministry in 1973 and was ordained in 1986. He served in five churches and filled many pulpits during his retirement years. He was a man of faith in God. He helped many people in need and chose to see the best in them. He was known in every coffee shop around and would walk up to total strangers and let them know that they mattered in this world. He could be in his best suit and tie and be a respected minister one moment and then put on his grubs and take his grandchildren around the yard in his homemade wagon behind the garden tractor. He was an Uber driver for his Amish friends in the community. He kept a positive attitude even during his decline in health. His favourite saying was “The sun will shine again.” The Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly, 321 Bayfield Road, Goderich on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. (Doors will open to the public at 1:30 p.m.) Due to COVID19 restrictions, while the funeral service is public, all attendees are required to register the name and phone number of each attendee, in advance on the funeral home's website at www.falconerfuneralhomes.com or by calling the funeral home at 519-524-1221 no later than 12 noon on Monday March 22nd.
