Please accept my deepest sympathies. What a profound and sudden loss. Steve will be greatly missed by all of us in the music community here in Huron Co. I can still picture Steve at the drums providing a flawless beat, in the background, but so vital just like he was in life. I didn't know Steve as well as I know his sisters Nancy and Linda, but they certainly loved him so. My thoughts and prayers have and will continue to be with Steve's immediate and extended families.

Janice, Jill and Sam;
Steve's passing came as a great shock to his friends and colleagues here in Nunavut. Sandy and I knew Steve as a contractor as well as a friend. We shared many stories over dinner at our home when he was working in Iqaluit and through these experiences feel that we know you as well. He beamed with pride whenever he spoke of you. We always teased him when your photos or reminders would pop up on the screen in the middle of a project meeting. We can attest to just how much he cherished all of you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and in the days ahead. Steve will not be forgotten.
David & Sandy

I worked with Steve on a number of FileMaker projects over the years for the Department of Education here in Iqaluit and in Arviat. I really enjoyed working with Steve and his uncanny approach to coming up with solutions to problems..... usually while talking about an issue amongst a group of us, he'd be listening, and after a few clicks of the mouse he'd say "You mean like this?" and the solution was in front of us on the projector. He made working with him actually fun and very few people have that gift. My sincerest condolences to Steve's family whom he spoke of often.

As have all others in the FileMaker community, I experienced great shock and sadness to learn of Steve Hearns most untimely death.
His contributions to the community were numerous and significant. And these were not only technical or business contributions. Rather they were also-and most significantly so-contributions of character.
Steve Hearn was an example to all of us of commitment, of rigorous adherence to high standards, and of care and concern for all his colleagues. I experienced those strength of character traits first hand on more than one occasion over the past fifteen years.
Grief is the loss of love. And the grief we now all feel that Steve will be in our company no longer is exactly our love of him for those traits he so magnificently exemplified.
Shakespeare said that The evil men do lives after them. The good is oft interred with their bones. But with Steve Hearn, it will be all the good that he did that will live on, not just for his family and not just for his friends, but for the FileMaker community he so distinguished by his numerous contributions and by his very presence.
We can be sad because he has left us. And we will be. We can cry because we hurt so very much as a result. And we will. But we can rejoice and we can be happy that we had the privilege of knowing him and observing the strength of his character and the contagion of his enthusiasm. This we can do. This we must do. This we will do.
I offer my most sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his family. And I can assure them that the FileMaker community will never forget Steve Hearn.

Words cannot begin to describe the impact that Steve has had on personal and professional lives. He was brilliant yet modest, deserving of the limelight but always unassuming. We learned so much from him. And he was always smiling while he taught us. So many fond memories of him, here's just one; Steve and I hooked up for dinner one night while we were both working for clients in the UK, we had dinner in the shadow of Windsor castle, we always seemed to be able to pick up from where we left, even if we didn't see each other for months or years.

From my family to yours, our sincerest condolences. No amount of words can express the sadness I feel for Janice, Jill and Sam. I had the previlege working with Steve at CoreSolutions a few years ago. I will always cherish his many stories of visiting Nunavut and telling me about eating raw Caribou. Sending all my support, love and hugs.

I was blessed to have had the honour to work with Steve for 17 years. At the beginning he learned from me but it did not take long before those roles were reversed. He was a huge part of CoreSolutions and CoreSolutions was a huge part of him. We all know Steve as a Mac lover, a brilliant FileMaker developer and one of the kindest people to set foot on this Earth. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janice, Jill, Sam, his brothers and sisters and all his family. We love you Steve, you will be missed so much by all your friends here.
