Dear Carol,
I am very sorry to hear of Steve's death. I worked with Steve in the early 70s at ARK and enjoyed his company, his humour and his manner. I recall a car trip with Steve to the Midland area I believe, for some camp planning. Soon after getting onto the expressway I knew I was in for an interesting ride in a sporty car!
My sympathies to you and Steve's family.
Sincerely,
Fraser Gibson

Dear Carol,
Gerry and I wish to offer our sincere condolences. We wish you and your family peace at this difficult time.
I was lucky enough to have Steve as both a teacher - those magical MacGregor years - and as a principal. I am so glad he and I had a chance to reminisce about those times, and even talk about "the bigger picture", in the past few weeks.

Mrs. Hawkey and family, upon arrival in Canada, A.R. Kaufman Public School was the first school I attended. Mr. Hawkey was a part of the Administrative team and I do have fond memories of him (except for the visits to his office :). Sorry for your loss. Keep the faith.

Steve was one of my first principals when I started my teaching career. He was always so kind and approachable, and I remember that he gave me lots of great pointers when I bought my first car. I really enjoyed working with him and always appreciated his keen sense of humour.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Carol, Many people have posted tribute (all deserving) to Steve. I don't know what I can add except Bill and I are deeply sorry. It was always a pleasure to be in his company. The smile and the "I'm up to no good" look were a delight to experience. We were truly blessed to have him in our "hood", such a helpful, cheerful neighbour. He is at rest. We hope, as time passes, you get used to missing him and that the memories sustain you. Please know how much we care.

Carol,
I was truly shocked and saddened to hear the news this morning. I always appreciated The time Steve took to talk with me. I quite enjoyed it. Always treated me and talked to me as a person, no matter what age I happened to be.
He was a good friend to my dad and I always admire and respect strong bonds like that.
Please know that I will always carry Steve with me and my Dad in my heart. I feel strongly that they are reunited now......wherever that may be. Take solace in that.
With love,
Jon
