Esther was our " well water " landlord /source - when we bought our Bayfield house ( for cottage use ) in 1999 . It was always nice to go visit her in May and other occasions and drop off the annual cheque in Sept.
We had heard she was 100 and still iliving in the home in Hensall ( Feb 3 )
and we're sorry to hear this week of her death .
Municipal water is a benefit - but wells made for good neighbours - and that is how I will remember Ester .

So sorry to hear of your loss. Esther was my teacher at s s no 9 Tipperary. She stayed at my Mom and Dads farm. She drove a vw car the first one I ever saw. My brother Stuart asked her if She liked it as good as a car. Everyone laughed about that. She was a very good teacher and I learned a lot from her. My brother still lives in Kincardine but I live out west in Coaldale Alberta. Again my Condolences.

At today's service, Family, friends and minister did a salutory job of recognising Aunt Esther's achievements and grand persona. But her humility was obvious especially to me: I did not know until today that this earnest, capable and dedicated wife, mother, farmer and Spec Ed teacher was a Latin, French and German scholar! Wow. She never once shared that with me and I had no idea. I now feel somehow cheated that I missed out on that whole dimension of my Aunt Esther Wright, all the more so because that is exactly what my first degree was in. I was an arrogant little twerp and this lady who taught me how to collect eggs could have out-Caesared me any moment she chose! So here she is now gone, and still teaching me lessons! Again, I salute you, Aunt Esther. God Bless.

To the Wright family,
You have lost a loving and amazing mother and grandmother.I loved every visit I had with her as we shared neighbourhood news and had a "family news catchup". She was so very proud of all of you. What a marvellous example she set for her family and friends. A life well lived - a person well loved. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So very sorry to hear of Esther's passing. Esther was such a close friend and teaching colleague of our mother's. Their friendship was one that lasted many many decades.
We have wonderful memories of our frequent visits as children to your farm and of your visits to our home and cottage. There certainly was a lot of laughter !
We particularly remember Esther's enormous energy, easy conversation and tremendous wit. What a ray of sunshine. We will always remember her with great fondness.
To Eleanor, Lois and Gordie and all family, our deepest condolences.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Esther. She certainly was a very special person in so many ways. She was such a good friend for many years of my mother and aunt and teaching companions Olive & Mabel Workman. I had quite a few conversations with her and she taught me things I had not understood about the early years they were teaching. She gave me one of her first readers that she had a duplicate of which I certainly treasure. My Mother had given me the other two.. I will miss her her very much.

She is the last of an amazing generation in our Wright family. It is this generation who grew up at the end of The Great War, experienced the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, the Second World War and Korea, Vietnam and onwards. They saw the invention of electronics and the transistor and the heretofore incredible things that evolved from that. The phenomenal advances in medicine and internationalisation and travel. They’re the ones who made all these things happen. The rate of change that their generation caused in society has been unsurpassed and likely will remain so. This generation walked to school as had untold generations prior. But then this generation walked on the moon, walked on the top of the world at Mount Everest and walked on the floor of the ocean. They did it all. We must be in absolute awe of their achievements. Polio and leprosy and others are all but annihilated. The United Nations and jet airlines are their constructs, as are farms in the desert, trebling of chemistry’s elements, the Hubble Telescope, automobiles and bicycles for all, the end of the world’s great empires, and, hugely, both education and the vote for women, blacks, aboriginals and gays. They are the first to grow up with radio and telephone, but upped the game immensely by inventing television, the computer, and mobile telephony which grew into the ubiquitous smartphone and computer games and massive worldwide ability to respond to major natural disasters anywhere in the world. Sadly about the only things they couldn’t leave as their legacy is the end to war, corruption and cancer. They seem to have solved almost everything else. Did Esther Wright do all these things alone? No. But her peers did and she was part of this tapestry: her perseverance, courage, progressive attitude, grace and good humour allowed her to survive early widowhood, run and build a productive farm, raise four children who have all performed in salutary fashion and are all making their own mark on family, society and the economy. She with her plate more than full went back to school as a single working mother of four, successfully running a large farm that grew into three, and certified as a teacher and taught for a full career on top of everything else. What a remarkable woman. Aunt Esther: God Bless you!
