Larry was a truly sincere gentleman. I had the pleasure of sharing an office with him when we worked at the Huron County Board of Education building. He was always positive and kind and had a great sense of humour. It was obvious that he loved his family and his work. My condolences to you Marg and your family.

Deeply saddened by the passing of Larry Powell. Larry was a member of my staff at Central Huron Secondary School. He was an excellent teacher highly respected and very well liked by staff and students alike. As the Technical Director , Larry was a model of sound management and a fine example for the members of his department. Larry was a quiet and unassuming man but a pleasure to deal with and a person with whom I always enjoyed any conversations that we had. Every so often Larry would stop by my office and we would have a friendly chat about the issues of the day. He was a wonderful person and his passing is a loss for all who was privileged to know him.
I extend my sincere condolences to Margaret and family.
Rest well Larry.

My condolences to the Powell family. I played slow pitch and hockey with Larry years ago. I would like to share a poem with the family.......I come to the garden alone when the dew is still on the roses and the voice I hear falling on my ear the Son of God discloses and He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own and the joy we share as we tardy there none other has ever known

Larry will always be remembered with kind and caring thoughts. He was the Technical Director at CHSS in my early years of teaching. Larry was sincerely committed to his students and his department. He never looked for accolades. He was a person who genuinely cared for others, concerned about how others felt and was always supportive. He had one of the greatest gifts-the gift of giving, which was evident in his kinds words and his thoughtfulness. I have been blessed to have known Larry and my years teaching with him are cherished. Thank you Margaret for your support and kindness. Bless you and your family in these wonderful memories.

May wonderful memories comfort you all at this most difficult time. Larry was such a wonderful, well-liked teacher. He was always kind and willing to lend a helping hand and a hard worker, always keeping his property immaculate and doing wood to heat his home. He will be greatly missed on our block. It is very sad to see a man that lived such a healthy life to endure what he had to do and leave us so early.
If you need anything Marg, please call.

Jeff and his family, Marg, Michael and his family; Larry was a true and genteel man that I am proud to say filled his sons with the same humour and compassion.
All of these condolences show he was loved and will be missed and I cannot adequately add to the messages other than to say I am sorry for the loss and certain his passing was with the quiet strength and grace I always saw in him.
Remember that and not the loss. Celebrate the life he gave to so many and find peace in his passing.
With love to all,
Michael

I will always remember Larry as a soft spoken, gentle and kind man. He supported and guided my two older sisters and myself through many high school track and field and cross country seasons. Even several years later I was lucky enough to run into Larry a few more times. One time I was running on the back roads near Seaforth and this older vehicle drove by and then came to a stop. I was a little worried... but as I came closer there was Larry. He had recognized the run he said and was so glad to know I still kept at it. We enjoyed reminiscing that day. We met again years later as I ran with my kids in a stroller and again his bright eyes and gentle smile glowed as we talked. He was happy to hear of my own teaching profession and cross country coaching. He was always such a supportive, caring man. I think of him often and the impact he had on my life and many others. I am saddened to hear of his passing but I know he’ll be forever remembered. My condolences to his lovely family.

Mr. Powell was my track coach for a few years (many years ago) and I have so many great memories of after school practices with him. He introduced me to Meatloaf (!) and I've laughed many times in my life as I've recounted to others how we used to run up and down the halls of CHSS listening to Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Even as a teenager, I could see how much he genuinely cared about his track team, quietly encouraging us and supporting us no matter how well we performed at meets.
I had the good fortune of running into him now and again when I moved back home to Huron County, and I was again struck by how kind and genuine he was.
You have my deepest condolences and I hope it will give you comfort to know how strongly he affected those he interacted with. He will be missed.

I took Mr. Powell's Grade 10 woodshop class in 1996 and I consider it one of the best educational experiences of my life. One of the class projects I made still hangs in my family home in Bayfield. I hope that the high regard so many of his former students have for him is a comfort to you in your grief.
