My deepest condolences to his family. I remember Wade fondly from playing football with him at Dalhousie. I played at one Offensive Guard position and he at the other. He was considerable undersized for the position probably going about 150 pounds whereas typical people at the position went about 220 or 240 and faced Defensive linemen that ranged from 250-300lbs. He told me he would have preferred Linebacker but would play where the Coach put him. What he lacked in size he made up for in tenacity and drive. I was much younger than Wade and looked up to him and was regaled by his many stories and adventures. My regret is I failed to find Wade and send him a note prior his passing.

Maria and family, my wife Shirley and I extend to you my most heart felt condolences at this very sad time.
I met Wade when he joined Bruce Power as Chief of Security and we worked very closely for the next several years. I can say without a doubt that I have never met a more visionary and decisive leader. His very daunting mandate was to create an armed security force from scratch within a highly resistant culture. The degree of difficulty in this task was compounded by the fact that the force that Wade had to create was required to protect a site as large as a small town with two physically isolated primary targets. Wade arrived on site with a vision and hit the ground like a whirlwind. Using his extensive knowledge, vast network of contacts, and seemingly limitless energy he built over the next several years, a highly trained and disciplined professional tactical unit, recognized for its excellence within the highest echelons of the police and nuclear security professions. My time working with Wade was the most challenging and rewarding period of my professional career. It was an honour to have known him and I will always be proud to say that I worked with him.

I was shocked to hear of Wade’s passing, he was such a bundle of energy that it is hard to believe. He was very passionate about security, and contributed a lot to the international community through organizations such as NTI and WINS. I talked with him a number of times about this work, and it was clear he was driven by a genuine desire to make the world a better place. Many countries don’t have the resources Canada has, and they benefited from his willingness to share his expertise. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Lacroix family. I considered Wade a Boss and mentor but most importantly a friend. His contribution to the evolution of Nuclear Security, after 9/11, is immeasurable and is a part of his legacy that I am sure he is proud of. Wade had a way of tuning you in but left you feeling like he respected you when he was done. Never shy to take a seat and talk with the Troops, as he never forgot where he came from. My wife only met Wade a few times but also loved how he would go out of his way to speak with her.
Thank you for your Leadership, guidance and friendship Wade.
God Bless.

In spite of living an hour's drive from one another in Ontario, ironically, it would not be until our husbands took jobs in Abu Dhabi, where we would meet, in an elevator, and develop a friendship. Wade was a true patriarch of their beautiful family with a work ethic second to none. The void left behind in his empty chair will serve as a reminder of this incredible man known to family and friends. Deepest sympathy to you Maria and to your family in your heartbreaking loss. Wade was my old partner, boss and mentor. While relatively small in stature, Wade was a giant of a man in his heart. I met him when I was an OPP diver and he convinced me that I should join the Tactics and Rescue Unit. He mentored me through the entire time I was on the unit and supported me through some of the darkest days at the end of my time on TRU. He lived and breathed tactics and his heart and dedication to his brothers and the public probably saved the team from extinction in 1988. I know that, with his unwavering belief in Jesus Christ, that he has gone to a far better place. I look forward to seeing him again!

I came on the OPP with Wade in 1975 and we went through OPP Orientation at Sherbourne Street in Toronto and Ontario Police College in Aylmer at the same time. We kind of clicked because we had both been militarized in our late teens - he with his Reserve experiences and me with my two years as a very young policeman on the frontline in Northern Ireland. Some years later we worked together at what was initially Petrolia Detachment. Wade was instrumental in growing this little Detachment into the County wide Lambton Detachment.
Wade struck me as a religious man who held family and church foremost in his life. He had incredible foresight and was extremely charismatic and passionate. He had the ability to hold a room and have people listen to him with interest. I know he missed his time developing and working with the Tactical Response Unit but he settled into Administration quickly and gave it all of his time and effort.
As happens in life I lost touch with Wade after retirement, when he moved on to bigger and better things. I thought about him often over the years and knew through the grapevine that he and his family were doing well in life.
Our sincerest condolences go out to Maria and family. You can be proud of a truly great husband and father.
